Often when Jesus was with his disciples and there was lack of one kind or another, He rebuked them oh you of little faith We read in Matthew 6:30
Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?
Yes our God provides for all our material things. Also in Matthew 8:26
And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm.
He also controls the storms of nature as well as storms of our troubled hearts. Again in Matthew 14:31
And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt?.
Peter lost his focus and his faith flattered, he looked out on Christ the only one who could help. When you are apprehensive about the troubles around you and doubt Jesus presence or ability to help, you must remember that he is the only one who can help you.
Jesus rebuked them for he was so full of supplies for their specific needs in the circumstances that they encountered but the disciples did take only very little from him. Our problem with faith like Jesus disciples is that we take too little from God. Faith is the hand that takes from the hand of God and when we lack faith then we are not able to access Gods blessings which are freely supplied by grace and given by his love.
Our God derives pleasure when we access and take all that we need from him for our day to day needs. Like every loving Father to his children it gives him pleasure when we take from his abundant supply for all our needs. We please God when we receive from him and this is only possible through faith. The bible tells us that the greater blesses the lesser and definitely between God and ourselves we are the lesser and God is the greater. So when we humble ourselves and take our place as the receiver we are letting God be God in our lives and he loves it.
Our faith is small when we take only a little from God. When we only take a little from Him for our needs, we must be taking from somewhere else. This means our faith is in someone or something else and God is just a standby. a last resort or plan B. That should not be the case. God should always come first. Our God is a jealousy God and he wants us to put him first in everything. Make God glad by making him first in everything and getting from him all your needs through faith. Ask God to enlarge your capacity to receive not based on how deserving you think you are, but based solely on His grace to supply and His love to give.
